Effective Mentoring Strategies (EMS) Workshop – Cultural Awareness and Conflict Resolution
11/7/2024 | 9:35 AM – 11:05 AM
Instructors: Jeremy Waisome and Jasmine Smith
In Person: 302 Tigert Hall

Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers have the unique opportunity to serve as a mentor and a mentee. In STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine) research, most of these mentors receive no formal training on how to be an effective mentor and navigate any challenges that may arise in the mentoring relationship. The workshop’s purpose is to equip graduate students and postdoc mentors with the tools and knowledge needed to be better mentors, especially to undergraduate student researchers. This workshop will cover the following topics: (1) Cultural Awareness; and (2) Conflict Resolution. Mentors will be presented with presentations on the above topics, followed by guided activities that will facilitate active and interactive learning. Register here.
