Human communication can be achieved through vocal (language) and non-vocal modalities (e.g., facial expressions, gestures, body posture, etc.). Although there are universal principles that guide all human communication, notable cultural differences still exist and may lead to communication breakdowns between people of different cultural backgrounds, even if they communicate using the same language. In this workshop, we will explore three cultural dimensions and how/why they influence human communication styles. Together we will expand on strategies that can help instructors and mentors successfully with culturally diverse groups of students.  Register here.
