Quality Course Requirements
- To earn a Quality Course designation, a course must receive an internal review and satisfy all 21 essential Quality Matters standards, which are each 3 points—to receive 63 QM points.
- In addition, UF’s Quality courses will be required to meet the UF essential standards (currently there are 8) to receive a minimum of 30/44 UF points.
Process
Instructor completes and submits a self-review including:
- Provide URLs to course examples.
- Export Ally accessibility report.
- Course “map” illustrating alignment between course goals, learning objectives, assessments, content and activities.
- The most recent student evaluations for the course.
- Program Directors/Department Chairs work with the Center for Teaching Excellence to assign peer reviewer.
- Course is reviewed by 1 trained reviewer
- Center for Teaching Excellence and Directors/Chairs work with course instructor to successfully complete review.
- “Quality” Designation is received upon satisfying all 21 essential Quality Matters standards, which are each 3 points—to receive 63 QM points.
- In addition, UF’s Quality courses will be required to meet the UF essential standards (currently there are 8) to receive a minimum of 30 UF points.
- The Quality designation is not awarded to the instructor’s course until after the reviews are completed.
High Quality Course Requirements
- To earn a High Quality Course designation, a course must meet all essential 3-point Quality Matters standards plus an overall point value of at least 84/99 points.
- In addition, UF’s High Quality courses will be required to meet all of UF’s essential items and earn an overall point value of at least 37/44 points.

- To earn an Exemplary Course designation, a course must receive an internal review and satisfy all 21 essential Quality Matters standards, which are each 3 points—to receive 94 QM points.
- In addition, UF’s Exemplary Course designation will be required to meet the UF essential standards (currently there are 8) to receive a minimum of 41/44 UF points.
Process
Instructor completes and submits a self-review including:
- Provide URLs to course examples.
- Export Ally accessibility report.
- Course “map” illustrating alignment between course goals, learning objectives, assessments, content and activities.
- The most recent student evaluations for the course.
- Program Directors/Department Chairs work with the Center for Teaching Excellence to assign peer reviewer.
- Course is reviewed by 1 trained reviewer
- Center for Teaching Excellence and Directors/Chairs work with course instructor to successfully complete review.
- The Exemplary Course designation is received upon satisfying all 21 essential Quality Matters standards, which are each 3 points each. In addition, Exemplary Courses are required to receive 94 QM points.
- UF’s Exemplary Courses are required to meet the UF essential standards (currently there are 8) and receive a minimum of 41 UF points.
- The Exemplary Awards are announced at UF’s Interface Conference.
