Overview
Maintaining high expectations is central to student learning. A classroom environment, which maintains an attitude of “warm demands”, supports high expectations while pushing students to reach those goals. This attitude can increase self-confidence and improve academic performance.
Strategies
Team-Based Learning
Use Team-based learning to help students solve a difficult problem they could not solve alone. This helps set the stage for great achievement and provides the tools and support to meet expectations.
Challenge = Fun
Present materials, assignments, and activities that are challenging but achievable. Students will rise to meet a challenge, challenging but achievable problems are what drive people to play video games and engage in courses.
