What is RiTL?

RiTL (Research in Teaching and Learning) at UF is specialized research that focuses on teaching methods that promote deep student learning across academic disciplines. UF’s RiTL community of researchers and educators will engage in the deliberate, systematic, and reflective use of research methods to develop and implement teaching practices that advance field-specific learning. RiTL at UF includes scholarly work related to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), Teaching as Research (TAR), and Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER).

Who is this for?

RiTL includes everyone who is interested in engaging in research that advances the scholarship of teaching and learning, including:

  • All faculty
  • Practitioners
  • Department chairs
  • Staff and librarians
  • Graduate students and postdocs

How to Get involved:

1. Join the Faculty Learning Community (FLC)

RiTL FLC is a reading, learning, and writing community centered on teaching-as-research: the deliberate, systematic, and reflective use of research methods to develop and implement teaching practices that advance the learning experiences and outcomes of students and teachers. UF instructors, staff, graduate students, and postdocs will develop their knowledge of scholarship on teaching and learning, as well as available resources on campus, to create educational research proposals, applying what they have learned in the FLC to their unique disciplines.
