Event Details

Navigating your professional communities and academic networks can take a lot of work, especially if you’re a graduate student who is new to both of these spaces.

In this event, we will explore the types of skills, which many graduate students already have, that help you navigate these professional spaces: managing up, identifying mentors, building support networks, and more.

In addition to helping you understand and explore communities and networks, these skills can help you succeed in different career paths once you understand how they translate. By the end of this session, you will be able to identify the roles you plan in various communities, and how those roles relate to specific professional skills. In addition, you will be able to develop your own mentor network map, identify the skills you have that will help you develop your network, and build your confidence to do this work.

This event is hosted by the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) and is designed for graduate students and faculty mentors. Register for this workshop by logging in with your CIRTL account. If you do not have a CIRTL account, you can create one with your UF credentials.
